Dynagen: A front-end management tool for dynamips. We can set experimental environment of a number of routers easily with it. It is only a configuration and management tool for dynamips. It is not necessary
Advantages: run CISCO IOS directly, reproduce real environment; run in kinds of operating systems: Linux, FreeBSD, Windows and so on.
Disadvantages: high hardware demand (CPU and EMS memory must be good enough when running a number of routers); complex configuration, comparing to other router simulation software (mainly topology file configuration)
Software installation
Install FreeBSD
Cvsup upgrades ports tree (after FB6.1 upgrade ports, there is dynagen)
Install dynamips
bsd# cd /usr/ports/emulators/dynamips/
bsd# make install clean
Install dynagen
bsd# cd /usr/ports/emulators/dynagen/
bsd# make install clean
Prepare CISCO 7200 IOS file (this step can be achieved in Windows XP and FreeBSD).Decompress it with winrar. If the file is 2xM, it can still be decompressed. Replace the extension with zip, decompress it with winrar, and you
